BUTE WHEELERS FESTIVAL 2026

On the weekend of the 26/27th September three members of the Bike Marshals Team made the long journey to Rothsay on the Isle of Bute off the west of Scotland for the annual Festival of Cycling. The job had been in the planning stage for many months and we were very much looking forward to the race round the island. On the Sunday the weather Gods had other ideas and following a torrent of rain of truly biblical proportions the team made an inspection of the course and very sadly had to advise the organisers that it was too dangerous to allow the racing to go ahead, the risk was much to high. Accordingly Murray the organiser made the reluctant decision to cancel the event and our guys had to return home. Most of the riders who were due to take part in the race voiced their agreement that the right decision had been made and that it was unsafe for the event to proceed. We look forward to return to this wonderful isle and hope for improved weather in 2027 Obviously we dont have photos of the event but we have one showing the ferry crossing to Bute
